چکیده
Interactive sonification can provide a platform for demonstration and education as well as monitoring and investigation. We present a system designed to demonstrate the facilities of the UK’s most advanced large-scale research wave tank. The interactive sonification of water waves in the 'ocean basin' wave tank at Plymouth University consisted of a number of elements: ocean wave generation, acquisition and sonification of ocean wave measurement data, and gesture controlled pitch and amplitude of sonifications. The generated water waves were linked in real-time to sonic features via depth monitors and a motion tracking of a

متن کاملAnalyzing Afro-cuban Rhythm Using Rotation-aware Clave Template Matching with Dynamic Programming
The majority of existing research in Music Information Retrieval (MIR) has focused on either popular or classical music and frequently makes assumptions that do not generalize to other music cultures. We use the term Computational Ethnomusicology (CE) to describe the use of computer tools to assist the analysis and understanding of musics from around the world. Although existing MIR techniques ...
متن کاملA Data Focusing method for Microwave Imaging of Extended Targets
This paper presents a data focusing method (DFM) to image extended targets using the multiple signal classification (MUSIC) algorithm. The restriction on the number of transmitter-receiver antennas in a microwave imaging system deteriorates profiling an extended target that comprises many point scatterers. Under such situation, the subspace-based linear inverse scattering methods, like the MUSI...
متن کاملA Shift-Invariant Latent Variable Model for Automatic Music Transcription
In this work, a probabilistic model for multiple-instrument automatic music transcription is proposed. The model extends the shift-invariant probabilistic latent component analysis method, which is used for spectrogram factorization. Proposed extensions support the use of multiple spectral templates per pitch and per instrument source, as well as a time-varying pitch contribution for each sourc...
